As this is a week's holiday I have plenty of things to do. I start the day with calling Universal to find out any news on the Stones. To no avail, everybody seems to be stuck in some sort of meeting. In the end I just leave my number.
At noon I text a message to Blondie Chaplin who is on his way home from New York. I had invited him to open Let It Bleed Ethan Russell's exhibition of the 1969 Stones tour. It opens on 7 November at V!psart galleries in Amsterdam at 5 pm, but I must know if Blondie can make it on time. He confirms it is alright: 'will do it'. V!psart's Peter de Raaff is chuffed! Peter talks to me about the opening and forwards some of Ethan's material.
Then I have a lenghty conversation with Dutch Radio 6's Paul Harvey on Tim Ries' new album Stones World. Today Paul received his copy; he is amazed by what he has heard! (well, who isn't?) Together we exchange ideas for a radio show and he asks me to talk to his colleague about producing a radio show together, something I have never done before. Tim has given his permission. Then we also discuss various possible future projects involving Chris Jagger's documentary on Pinetop Perkins, Charlie Watts' jazz, Georgie Fame, the Metropole Orchestra, Ian MacLagan, etc.
In the evening I receive a phone call about Bill Wyman's photo exhibition I am hoping to set up in January, in a Dutch museum. I have to send some of Bill pix first, so the museum can judge for themselves. Point is, I cannot find my photo cd....I have to search down in the basement... Let's get organised...
As this long day is coming to an end Charles Mingus is filling up the silence in my house. Cup of tea, cat on my lap, Mingus'organised chaos, I can't find any better contrast. MINGUS, AH UM!
