After attending the opening we went to Paradiso to watch Miriam Makeba's concert. It was very moving, the show was fantastic! Afterwards we went backstage and Blondie briefly talked to her, What a sweet, charming gracious lady! She looked rather fragile, as she was sitting in a wheelchair. Blondie was very emotional about this meeting, all those memories from South Africa!
Monday morning early we heard the awful news that she had passed away. Blondie was in shock, but nevertheless he gave an interview to Radio 6 about his brief encounter with Mrs Makeba.
I am very grateful I got the chance to watch her play last Friday. May she rest in peace.
